The OET is an English language test for healthcare professionals who want to work or study in English-speaking countries. It tests listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills in healthcare-related situations. The test uses healthcare-specific language and scenarios to make it relevant and practical for healthcare professionals. It’s recognized by healthcare bodies and universities in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, and the United Kingdom.
1. LISTENING
Follow and understand a range of health-related spoken materials such as patient consultations and lectures.
2. READING
Read and understand different types of text on health-related subjects
3. WRITING
The task is to write a letter, usually a referral letter. Sometimes, especially for some professions, a different type of letter is required. Ex: a letter of transfer or discharge, or a letter to advise or inform a patient, carrier, or group
4. SPEAKING
In a private room you will take part in two role-plays. You take your professional role (as a healthcare professional) while the interlocutor plays a patient or client, or sometimes a relative or carer.
During our one-on-one consultation call, we’ll have the opportunity to evaluate your English proficiency and clinical knowledge, and develop a personalized strategy and training plan to help you succeed in the OET.
